Rockford’s Discovery Center Museum Earns Travelers Choice Award

Discovery Center Museum is the nation’s 5th Best Museum for Families according to USA TODAY/10Best.com, and one of 12 museums included in Forbes.com’s article, "The 12 Best Children’s Museums in the U.S."

Now they've added to their collection of accolades and trophies. TripAdvisor has named Discovery Center Museum a 2020 Travelers’ Choice award-winner for Attractions.

TripAdvisor's 2020 Travelers' Choice Awards are based on a full year of TripAdvisor reviews, prior to any changes caused by the pandemic. Award winners are known for consistently receiving great traveler feedback, placing the in the top 10% of hospitality businesses around the globe.

I took a couple of minutes to comb through TripAdvisor reviews of Discovery Center Museum, and it comes as no surprise that people from all over the country (and the world, as it turns out) have wonderful things to say about one of Rockford's most special places:

• Stopped by with our family on the way to Orlando. We had been here once before many years ago. It had improved and was so fun for everyone in or group from our infant to the grandparents. Some of our favorites were the bubble area, the tornado tube, farm area, and the list could go on. We had to limit ourselves to two hours but could of easily spent more time there.
• This was our first visit with two 3 year olds and a 1 year old. We went on a Friday and arrived at noon. It was not too crowded. There was plenty to do for both age groups. The areas were clean and well staffed. We stayed until 3:30. The Art Room was filled with a lot of materials for the children to use. We will definitely be back!
• My kids (7 and 4 years old) had the best time at Discovery Center! We stopped here on our way home from Galena for a few hours of fun. They loved the outdoor play area the most! So many cool exhibits, even my husband and I enjoyed ourselves. I wished we lived closer so we could visit more often. A definite must see if in the area with kids!
