One Dead In Early Morning Rockford Crash

One man is dead following a fatal crash on Rockford's northwest side.

Officials confirm to our partners at Eyewitness News that a 42 year old Rockford man died following the early morning crash at Central and Kilburn:

The crash occurred at 1 o'clock Tuesday morning when a 39 year old Rockford man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree, killing the passenger.

An initial investigation indicates high speeds and possible impairment may be factors in the accident. The driver sustained minor injuries.

Officials expect the area will be closed to traffic for at least a couple of hours.
