October 26th Is A Very Important Date In Chicago Sports History
October 26th marks the date of an exciting debut and the culmination of one of the greatest postseason runs in history.
In 1984 the city of Chicago witnessed one of the greatest athletes of all-time, Michael Jordan, suit up for the Bulls for the first time.
Jordan ended up with a line of 16 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. The Bulls beat the Bullets, now Wizards, 109-93.
I encourage you to watch some of these first game highlights if for no reason other than they are in French.
Then 31 years later in 2005, the White Sox concluded a magical run to the World Series title.
Highlights from that playoff run included a 4-0 sweep of the Astros in the World Series, and four (4!) complete game wins from four different pitchers in the ALCS against the Angles.
I say this as a huge Cubs fan, that was the most dominant postseason this city had seen since the 85 Bears. Truly a wonderful postseason for anyone who cheers for the Southside team.
If you forgot how magical it was, or you just want to hear some Journey, waste some time with the video below.
