I was aware that huge sums of money are spent on tickets to sporting events all the time, but I guess it never dawned on me just how much devoted, rabid fan bases will actually pay for the chance to be live and in person at a big sporting event, regardless of the sport.

For example, I just read a piece about the most expensive sporting tickets that have ever been sold, and a certain game back in 2016 between the Chicago Cubs and The Cleveland Indians (before they became the Guardians in 2022) is the overall winner.

According to YahooFinance, for Game 7 of the 2016 World Series,

A very select few paid a whopping $1.17 million to see them play, Sport One reported.

While those tickets were most likely reserved for the rich and famous, it still would’ve been pricey to see the game as a regular fan, with the median listed price sitting at $2,249.

Some of the other events that made the "most expensive tickets list" include the Floyd Mayweather-Conner McGregor fight with some tickets selling for $157,700, and a Cleveland Cavaliers-Golden State Warriors matchup in 2017where tickets went for as much as $194, 232.
