Cockburn becomes just the fourth Illini to win the honor.

It's been a good year for the University of Illinois basketball team. They finished the season Sunday night with a win over rival Iowa to secure the fourth seed and a double-bye headed into the Big Ten tournament.

Freshman sensation Kofi Cockburn averaged 11.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game and won the freshman player of the week award a whopping 7 times. Cockburn had 12 double doubles on the year which ironically "doubled" up the previous record of 6 held by Efrem Winters.

Cockburn wasn't the only Illini to receive some post season honors. Sophomore guard Ayo Dosunmu was named to the First All-Conference team in what is most likely his last season in Champaign.

The Illini look to continue their season Friday afternoon in the Big Ten tournament before March Madness really begins with the NCAA Tournament next week.
