Bears Safety Signs Record Deal
The four-year deal is worth a maximum of $58.4 million.
Jackson is arguably the best draft pick of Ryan Pace's tenure as GM and now he will be the highest-paid safety in NFL history. For now at least.
Jackson has had a pretty successful run in his three years with the Bears:
Suntimes - Jackson has been a full-time starter from the day he arrived and has 10 interceptions, 184 tackles, five fumble recoveries and two touchdowns in three seasons. He was selected as an all-pro last season.
Jackson's performance slipped a bit from past seasons, but you can say that about pretty much every Bear from last season.
This is the first "on the field" move Pace has made in the offseason after firing a quartet of coaches and replacing half of them already. Pace knows that next year might be his last as a Bear GM if he doesn't turn things around. Only time will tell now.
