
Winnebago wins East boys basketball summer league tourney
The Winnebago Indians ran the gauntlet of the Rockford School District's best basketball teams to win the Rockford East Boys Basketball Varsity Summer League tournament.
Winnebago went 3-3 in the three regular-season weeks, but the Indians knocked off Freeport, 61-53, and previously undefeated Jefferson, 54-47, Monday night to move into Tuesday's semifinals.
On Tuesday, the Indians beat East and Auburn by identical 60-55 scores to claim the summer tournament title.
The final tournament standings and overall records were:

3. East, 6-4 (3-1 in tournament)
