Which Mobile Service Performs Best In the Rockford Area?

How can you determine which mobile service has the best coverage and performance in Rockford?

Well, there's a company called RootMetrics that does extensive testing of wireless networks across the country. It measures speed, reliability and performance on the four major wireless service providers in America.

The company just released the city-by-city rankings for the first half of 2015. Rockford overall, did pretty well, coming in at number 33 for overall service. But which company is best?

In a somewhat anticlimactic turn, RootMetrics says AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint tied for the number 1 ranking in Rockford with T-Mobile close behind in fourth. According to RootMetrics:

Since our previous testing in August, Sprint launched its Spark™ network in the Rockford area. Subsequently, Sprint’s median download speed increased from 9.9 Mbps to 16.8 Mbps, and Sprint’s median upload speed increased from 5.1 Mbps to 7.8 Mbps.

Notably, 16.8 Mbps is the fastest median download speed Sprint has recorded in any market we've tested to date.

In individual categories, AT&T came in first for network speed and data. Sprint and AT&T tied for first in text service. And there was a four-way tie for number 1 when it comes to call quality.
