Rockford Symphony Orchestra Will Perform At Sinnissippi Band Shell

For the first time since the pandemic began, the RSO will perform for a live audience.

The Rockford Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce it will perform live for the first time since the onset of the COVID pandemic; it is also the first public concert of any kind in Rockford since March. The RSO will perform three one-hour concerts at the Sinnissippi Music Shell on Saturday, September 12 at 7PM, and Sunday, September 13 at 3PM and 5PM. Tickets for the benefit performances are $45 each and advance purchase is required.

According to their director, Julie Thomas, this benefit will allow the city's orchestra to actually pay their performers and give them some much needed time playing for a live audience. As someone who spent some time in the orchestra world, there is a huge difference between rehearsal and performance, so this is a pretty big deal for the musicians as well as the audience.

They plan on two more performances throughout the year, a classics toward the end of October and a Pops concert in December. Locations for the shows has not been determined yet.
