Son Of Former Bear Will Play For Lovie At Illinois
We'll have to wait to see if he's as, colorful, as his father.
247sports - Three-star Loyola Academy offensive lineman Josh Kreutz committed to Illinois on Thursday. Kreutz, the son of former Chicago Bears' Pro Bowl center Olin Kreutz, is ranked the No. 1090 overall prospect in the Class of 2021, the No. 15 center and the No. 29 prospect in the state of Illinois.
This was the kind of recruiting that Illinois fans were hoping for when Lovie Smith came to Champaign. Illinois has lost out to in-state talent for what seems like decades, but Lovie Smith has the connections and the reputation to hold some of these guys in state.
Olin Kreutz has been very open about how fond he was of Lovie during his playing days, so you had to like Illinois' chances. Now Illini Nation just needs to see if any other Pro-Bowlers that Lovie coached has kids in high school. This could be just the beginning of a very talented pipeline.
