See Pumpkins Get Smashed at Discovery Center

No, the 90s rock band will not be playing in Rockford in November weekend. However, Discovery Center does have a solution for the question of what to do with that Jack-o-lantern after Halloween.

You're invited to bring the kids (or just yourself) and your pumpkin to Discovery Center on Sunday, November 8. Then you'll be able to watch a catapult and trebuchet send the gourds through the air until they meet an ultimate demise when hitting the pavement. The museum's annual "Smashing Pumpkins" events takes place this Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

It's not all fun and games, though, Kids can learn something too! They'll be able to create a miniature catapult and learn how to lob. There also will be various fall arts and crafts activities happening through the afternoon.
