Gotta start by offering a huge "thank you" to all of our veterans, current service members, and their families on this Veterans Day 2014. The sacrifice made by all who volunteer to keep us safe is appreciated more than I ever could put into words.

That being said, there's more free stuff out there for vets! At local Culver's locations you're invited to enjoy a free turtle sundae:

All veterans are invited to stop in Tuesday at any of our Rockford or Roscoe Culver's locations and receive a free two-scoop Turtle sundae as a small token of our gratitude. No purchase is necessary, and you don't have to print this email.  Simply tell the cashier that you are a veteran of any military service branch when you come into to join us.

USA Today also has a lengthy list of offers available for vets and current service members. Here are those that appear to be available locally:

  • Free meal at Hooters with any drink purchase. Applebee's and Chili's also offer free meals from a special menu to vets and active military.
  • Red Robin is offering a Red's Tavern Double burger with Bottomless Steak Fries on the house.
  • Starbucks is handing out a free, tall brewed coffee on Tuesday to all U.S. military veterans and active duty service members and their spouses.
  • IHOP offers vets and active military free Red, White and Blue pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11.
  • Red Lobster is offering free appetizers to veterans and active duty military through Thursday, November 13.
  • Restaurants owned by CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries (including Old Chicago Pizza) offer a free craft beer to active and retired military Tuesday.

We also told you previously about free offers from Texas Roadhouse, Great Clips, and Golden Corral.

It's certainly not enough to truly thank our vets and service members, but it's not a bad start.
