Illinois Man Is Making Free Canes for Veterans From Your Old Christmas Trees
I know the Christmas season just officially got underway, but in just over a month you will have to get rid of that beautiful real tree you just picked out, so I wanted to give you a heads up now about what you should do with it this year.
Repurpose Your Real Christmas Tree When The Season Is Over
Over the weekend I saw a post show up on my NextDoor app from a guy named Rich in Rockford who wants to do something really cool with your real Christmas tree this year. Rich's post said;
REAL CHRISTMAS TREES WANTED AFTER THE SEASON......Hello All my names Rich and I run a little woodworking business out of my garage. As a way to give back I make Canes and Walking sticks out of old Christmas trees to give Free to Veterans who could use one. If you use a real tree for your holiday festivities and when ready to toss it out Please drop me a text or call at 1-815-289-3514 and I will gladly come pick it up. Here is a pic of what I do. Thanks.
It always makes me sad when I see a Christmas tree laying on the curb because it is a blatant reminder that my favorite time of the year is officially over. Please give Rich a call when it's time to get rid of your real tree this year, and if you can't do that, please drop it off at one of the many tree recycling locations that Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful will be setting up at the beginning of January.
