The Jefferson J-Hawks have navigated the first 9 conference game without a loss.

It's really a shame that there will not be any state tournament in Illinois for high school basketball. There are a few teams in the area that could make some noise in a March tournament.

One of them is Jefferson, but another team I'd like to give a little shine to is Rockford Lutheran. They were currently ranked #1 in Class 2A. Dave and I were able to see the Crusaders in action last week when they traveled to Winnebago last week. Unfortunately, Winnebago was down one of their starters due to the coronavirus and Lutheran ran away with the game in the second half. The Crusaders were able to cut down the nets this week when they clinched the Big Northern Conference. They will be losing a few seniors but their underclassmen are special players and I'm sure we'll see them back at it next season.

Jefferson still has a few games to win but could be cutting down some nets of their own next Friday night. They currently sit in first place in their half of the NIC-10 race.

If the J-Hawks can pass the test against Hononegah Thursday night, it will set up an epic matchup with East this Saturday, with the winner of the game likely moving on to the championship game next Friday against the top team from Division A.

Dave Perrone and I will be on the call Thursday night. Download the app to get an alert 15 minutes before tip. Tip is scheduled for 7PM but can change so get the app to stay connected.
