Darvish hasn't been stellar on the field this season but he seems like a pretty awesome guy off of it.

One of the cooler traditions in baseball is when a big-time star does a stint in the minors, the big shooter usually treats the team to a nice meal. Darvish went above and beyond that yesterday.

The Cubs right-hander pitched 5 decent innings for the South Bend Cubs, the big clubs single-A affiliate, and then treated BOTH teams to a buffet catered by Ruth's Chris.

I've heard plenty of stories about guys buying their own team dinner but have never heard of someone buying the opposing clubhouse the same spread. Good for Yu.

Darvish had recently said that he thought that Cub fans didn't like him because he wasn't performing on the field. If he keeps this kind of stuff up he won't have to worry one bit. I predict a pretty hearty round of applause the next time he steps on the mound at Wrigley.
