The Winnebago County Health Department (WCHD) wants to remind residents that now is the time to get your flu vaccine, before influenza begins spreading in the Rockford area.

Winnebago County Health Department Public Health Administrator, Dr. Sandra Martell:

“Getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect you, your family, and your community from influenza. By being vaccinated you reduce your risk of illness, hospitalization, or even death; and you help prevent the spread of flu to others.”

According to the WCHD's website, to get an influenza vaccine, Winnebago County residents age 14 and older can walk-in to a Winnebago County Health Department Community Flu Clinic. The WCHD’s complete flu clinic schedule can be found online at www.wchd.org or by calling 815-720-4274. Check with your insurance provider to ensure the flu vaccine is covered under your plan. Ask about out of pocket costs you may be responsible for. If you have one, please bring your insurance card with you to the clinic.
