The last couple months of the year are filled with with family, and friends, gathering for big feasts, football and naps.

The Winnebago County Health Department (WCHD) wants to remind residents that now is the time to get your flu vaccine, before influenza begins spreading in the Rockford area.

As if all the flooding weren't enough, the Rock County Health Department says that high levels of the bacteria make parts of the Rock "unsuitable for recreation."

We haven't had to deal with them in several months, but Rockford is rapidly approaching a full-on onslaught from the world's most hated flying pest.

It's not too late to get that flu shot, and there are some other ways to keep yourself protected from becoming a flu season statistic.

And by these guys, I mean ticks. Warmer weather is here and Winnebago County is already seeing an increased number in Lyme Disease cases over last year's numbers.

This year’s national theme for September is “Don’t Wait, Communicate. Make your Emergency Plan Today,” and the Winnebago County Health Department would like to suggest that you and your family use the opportunity to discuss your family's emergency plan.
