Video Gambling is Setting New Records in Rockford and Statewide
Based on data provided by the Illinois Gaming Board, video game based wagering has surpassed the $15 billion mark in Illinois, up nearly $2 billion over last year.
Here in Rockford, nearly $352 million has been wagered on the gaming machines through the end of October. In 2017, that number was just less than $334 million.
From 13 WREX News:
Increased wagering means increased revenue for municipalities and the state. In 2018, the City of Rockford has cashed in more than $1.4 million in revenue. In 2017, that number was just north of $1.3 million. Statewide, revenues have increased more than $41 million year to year.
With gaming continuing to gain interest statewide, it remains to be seen if lawmakers will look for new gaming revenue. The legalization of sports betting in Illinois and a potential for a casino coming to Rockford are both actively being talked about down in in Springfield.
