Was the giant head and crown not a dead giveaway for these officers?

The short answer is that Illinois, like every other state, takes a rather dim view of driving under the influence. Some places may be a bit easier or tougher on offenders, but in the Land of Lincoln, it's still going to cost you a pile of money, time, and other difficulties.

With all the transportation alternatives waiting for the person who's had too much too drink, it's somewhat surprising that people go ahead and roll the dice with impaired driving. Nonetheless, they do--and Rockford Police are arresting them for it more than any other municipal police department in Illinois.

Today is St. Patrick's Day. And, since St. Patrick's Day falls on a Friday, chances are many people will make this St. Patrick's Weekend. Since St. Patrick's Day/Weekend is second only to New Year's Eve as a drinking holiday, some will choose poorly and get behind the wheel after a lot of green beer.

"Don't drink and drive" are four words that you've probably heard a million times, yet despite all the warnings, lots of people still do it. And, here in Rockford, they're getting arrested for it more than almost anywhere in the state of Illinois.

Well, to be honest here, you should drive safe and sober all year round, not just when area police agencies will be out in force. However, we're talking about the upcoming holiday weekend right now.
