Lucky for you if you feel the same as I do. Personally, I prefer the lowkey spots as opposed to the jam-packed hotspots.

When it comes to skiing, there are mountains that are always loaded with skiers, and then there are places you can ski unfettered.

If you're more of the latter, then there's a place for you in Wisconsin.

Travel Awaits took a look at the 11 Best Uncrowded Ski Resorts in the U.S. and they say White Cap Mountains Resort belongs on the list and here's why:

White Cap is a four-season resort in Northern Wisconsin that sits within the ancient Penokee Mountains, about 2 hours away from Duluth International Airport. The average snowfall is 200 inches across 400 acres and 43 runs, and there are trails for all ability levels. If you don’t ski, the snowmobiling, cross-country, and snowshoe trails are just as exciting.

Located in Upson, Wisconsin, Whitecap Mountain Resort is rated a 4 out of 5 on TripAdvisor and listed as the #1 thing to do in Upson.

Let's not go crazy here. It is also listed as the ONLY thing to do in Upson.

Either way, a lot of reviews of Whitecap remember this ski resort fondly saying "the skiing is just s fantastic as it was then" while adding "the place is a bit sleepier."

Others talked about the need for upgraded facilities while also mentioning how surprisingly good the food is at the bar.

The biggest takeaway I got from the reviews, there are new owners of the Whitecap Mountain Resort. LittleCarpenter on TripAdvisor said "The new owners are investing in major updates and improvements and it shows! If you haven't been here in a few years give it a try again because if you've been here before you know the varied terrain is the most fun in Wisconsin and Michigan."

Want to ski and avoid crowds at the same time? The Whitecap in Upson, Wisconsin might be your spot.
