Girls Area State Track Results

The Stateline was well represented at the IHSA State girls track meet Saturday at Eastern Illinois in Charleston.
Two Rockford athletes were double event champions for the second straight year.
Courtney Sockwell a senior of Rockford Lutheran in 1A winning the 100 and 200 meters. And Grace McLaughlin a junior of Rockford Boylan once again topped the 1600 (5:02.43) and 3200 meters (10:40.45). McLaughlin helped Boylan to a solid fifth place finish in 2A.
The area won six events. The other two, Paige Yoder of Rockford Keith Country Day in the 1A long jump with leap of 18'01.
Sabrina Elder, Kayla McGuire, Madison Dirichs and Jenna Lutzow joined forces to lead Belvidere North to first place in the 3A meter relay in 9:12.12.
The Stateline also placed high in many other events. Rebecca Waite, a junior had qualified in all four events, and took medals in the three sprints, the 100, 200 and 400 meters. She led Milledgeville to a fifth place team finish in 1A.
Waite, had a new personal best of 57.51 to finish second in the 400 meters and was also the runner-up in the 200. She finished in 25.86 behind Sockwell who won in 25.33. Waite, who was second in the 100 last year finished sixth this year. Sockwell, who was upset in the Sectional bounced back to win the 100 in 11.95.
Milledgeville, even without Waite (whose fourth event was the long jump), had a solid third place in the 800 meter relay in 1:46.36. Even more impressive was the youth. The foursome was made up of freshman Lydia Coatney, Alyvia Woodard, Olivia Sturrup and sophomore Sage Walrath.
Also in 1A Emily Offenheiser of Stockton/Warren a junior placed for the third straight year. She was fourth in both the shot put and discus.
Carmen DeVries, a junior of Lena-Winslow, last year placed in the 400 meters and long jump. She qualified again in both but did not make the finals. DeVries, had a strong third place effort in the triple jump, 36'10.25.
The Amboy Coop medaled in three events. Katelyn Parkhurst third in the long jump. She also joined Cassidy Corcoran, Madeline Foster and Ashley Atlhaus third in the 1600 Meter relay. Amboy was eighth in the 3200 relay.
Rockford Christian's Madison Franseen was eighth in the 1600 meters. Winnebago finished seventh in the 400 relay.
Others who took home medals in 2A were Boylan's Delaney Appino who finished second behind her teammate McLaughlin. Bridget Bishop was fourth in the shot put.
Paige Christopher of Galena/River Ridge/East Dubuque finished seventh in the high hurdles.
In 3A in addition to Belvidere North's winning 3200 relay team. Olivia Lewis of Harlem placed eighth in the triple jump.
