Freeport won the 2A boys track Sectional at Richmond Burton Wednesday.

The Pretzels won with 84 points, nine ahead of Marengo. Belvidere was third with 63.5.

Deion McShane qualified for State in all four of his events. He led the way with three first places in the 100 high hurdles (14.11) and 300 Intermediate hurdles (37'66) and the long jump (22'1.75) and second in the 200 meters (21.94).

The Pretzels also had a strong supporting cast also making state. Collin Heidenreich (13'6) was second in the pole vault. Jaden Johnson finished third in both hurdle events meeting the state qualifying times. Also advancing to State with seconds were the 400-meter relay team of Johnson, Dontay Thompson, Robert Walker and Darius Lewers. And Paris O'Bryant was runner-up in the high jump.

McShane placed at state last year in all four events to lead Freeport to a share of the 2A State title. In his senior season McShane is hoping to win state in his four events and with the others possibly placing high the Pretzels will be looking to win the team state title outright.

Others from the Stateline making State from 2A. The winning Boylan 400 meter relay (43.69) and Eric Konitski in the 400.

From Belvidere champions Kalen Murray

In the triple jump (43'8) and Jacob Taylor in the 800 meters. Jake Peterson was second in the discus and Austin Hansen third and state standard height in the pole vault.

Byron won the 3200-meter relay. Kirk Chernick who anchored that team also was second in the 800.

Galena's Sam Mickelson won the 3200 meters (9:51.85). Blake Walters of North Boone took the 1600 in 4:33.43.
