There's never a bad time to donate blood, but officials with the Rock River Valley Blood Center are offering an opportunity soon donate and sign up to possibly save a life.

On Thursday, February 19, the Be The Match Registry will be on hand during a Mobile Blood Drive at Beloit College in Pearson’s Hall. The event will take place between 12:00 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Be The Match is the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on saving lives through marrow and cord blood transplantation. Over the years, the registry has connected more than 66,000 patients with their life-saving marrow donor.

According to a press release, there still are thousands of patients searching for their match:

Registry data shows that doctors request donors in the 18-44 age range more than 90% of the time. Younger donors are best for patients because they provide the greatest chance for transplant success.

If you can't make it to the event, officials say online registration also is available at the Rock River Valley Blood Center's website.
