Uh oh. It looks like Riley & I are both in trouble. Somehow the dogs we love have ended up on a list of the 5 Least Intelligent Dog Breeds.  Riley, of course. has his new Weimaraner, Lucy:

No. 3: Weimaraner

This is an active breed with a passion for hunting and spending time with his family. He doesn't always have an "off" switch and typically doesn't like being alone, so he can be a real handful for a family that doesn't have time to work with him.

And I have my presently-fictional Basset Hound (to be welcomed into our household sometime in the future):

No. 5: Basset Hound

The Basset Hound...has, as Basset enthusiasts would say, a melodious howl, and can also be stubborn with selective deafness when he doesn't care to listen to your commands. He's typically a loving and affectionate family pet who generally adores children and may not care to be left alone in the backyard.

What does it say about us that we've chosen to love two breeds on that list?

Meanwhile, if you are a dog-lover like us (or even a pet-lover of any type) don't forget about the upcoming 6th Annual Fur Ball to benefit PAWS Humane Society.  PAWS was founded in 1988 and is a local, non-profit charitable animal welfare organization. You might have heard of them because each week a PAWS representative brings a pet to the WROK studios during Saturday Morning Stateline with Greg Saunders.
