Maybe this promotion comes in response to Leinenkugel’s finding out last week that Illinois outdrank Wisconsin in 2020. (Didn't know that? Click here)

Then again, maybe it's all about trying to speed summer along after dealing with a winter that just wouldn't let go. I still like the idea of it being butt-hurt over losing a state-to-state drinking contest, but that's just me.

As a fan of beer-giveaways from way back, this one seems pretty cool. Not as cool as the Scottish brewery that gave away one million pints of its brew to craft beer lovers in 2018. BrewDog didn't just hand them out on the street, but gave them to pubs to pass along to their regulars.

The Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin says that they've "decided to bring a little summertime fun in the middle of winter by giving away a custom Summer Shandy Ice Shanty. It’s our warm weather take on a classic ice fishing hut, decked out with everything to make anytime feel like summertime."

I've spent time in Wisconsin during the summer, so when they say "everything to make anytime feel like summertime," they better be including mosquitoes the size of canned hams, because that's one of the things I remember most about camping in Portage.

Leinenkugel says that they're including light therapy lamps, a grill, something called "classic lake house decor," and a year of free Summer Shandy (About $500 to buy a year's worth of Summer Shandy, according to a Facebook post from the brewery).
