Winnebago County Animal Services Needs Your Help to “Clear the Shelter”
I've long been a fan of dedicated men and women who run and staff Winnebago County Animal Services (WCAS), and their latest offering/promotion is one of the many reasons why.
From the Winnebago County Animal Services website:
Nearly 700 shelters across the country are teaming up with NBC Owned Television Stations and Telemundo for Clear the Shelters, a nationwide pet adoption drive on Saturday, August 19 that helps find loving homes for animals in need. Over 50,000 pets found their forever homes in 2016.
Winnebago County Animal Services, in cooperation with Clear the Shelters and NBC Chicago Channel 5, will be participating for the first time this year and we are hoping that all of our pets will find their forever home. So please stay tuned for further details on our website, facebook page, as well as your local NBC affiliate stations. Come out on August 19th and please help all of our animals find that forever home!
So, here it is in a nutshell. Winnebago County Animal Services is waiving fees for all cats and dogs at the North Main location, and all cats at the Machesney Park Petsmart on Saturday the 19th from 11 am to 3:30 pm. The adoptions include a wellness exam, spay or neuter, microchip, and vaccinations. To adopt you will need an adoption application approved by the shelter and state issued photo I.D. To fill out an adoption application online check out www.wcasrock.org.
My family has taken in several rescue pets over the years, and I can tell you that they've all been wonderful members of our family. I highly encourage you, if you're of a mind to add a pet to your home and life, to get in touch with Winnebago County Animal Services.
