I've shared quite a bit of information about what's happening in Rockford's skies over the last month, and we're not done yet. If you feel like getting up a bit early tomorrow morning, you'll get a look at a solar eclipse.

The solar eclipse was an exciting view no matter where you live. Chicago meteorologist Tom Skilling was even moved to tears.

Would you know immediately if your eyes are damaged from looking at the eclipse?

Not from being zapped by solar radiation, but from a bazillion people sharing their snaps.

By now, I'm sure you've heard all the buzz about the upcoming solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st. For the 2017 eclipse, there is a strip of land about 70 miles wide or so (called the "path of totality") that stretches from central Oregon through South Carolina. In Illinois, that path is through the bottom fourth of the state.

Most everyone I know has Monday, August 21 marked down as the day the total eclipse is going to happen.

A total eclipse of the sun is coming this summer, and Rockford area libraries are giving us a chance to check it out.
