The solar eclipse was an exciting view no matter where you live. Chicago meteorologist Tom Skilling was even moved to tears.

Even if you weren't in the path of complete darkness, there was something special to see.

One of the toughest things to do was to capture a good photo of the eclipse, especially considering how cloudy it was in the Rockford area. Like this one. It looks like someone spilled some mac & cheese on the black carpet.
