355 properties were sold in March of this year, the largest total number since 534 homes were sold in March of 2007.

Rockford Area Realtors have got to be proud of the local selling effort, which saw sales take off in the month of March this year. The average home came off the market in under 65 days.

The three-month rolling average price of Rockford market homes increased 6.8 percent from an average $117,566 in March last year to $125,548 this March. This is the highest March average since 2008, when homes averaged $138,622.

Sales in Rockford surpassed or equaled the national housing sales. Rockford total sales were up 6.9 percent in March, 57 percent higher than the U.S. sales gain of 4.4 percent.

All of the sales come at a time where inventory continues to decrease. Total inventory for March set a new record low at 834 homes for sale, down from 1,086 properties last year.
