Rockford Police Investigate Apparent Murder Outside Walmart

The Winnebago County's Coroner's office reports has identified the victim as 72-year-old Harland Dascher, Jr. of Machesney Park. Officials also confirm the cause of death to be a stab wound to the chest.

Rockford police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a stabbing death at a local Walmart. According to our partners at Eyewitness News, a 72-year-old man was found stabbed outside the Walmart near Alpine and Riverside.

Officers reportedly were called to the scene around 2 a.m. to investigate a stabbing. Upon arrival they found the victim in the parking lot outside the store. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There are no suspects in custody and no additional details at this time.
