Rockford Police Arrest Two on Drug, Weapons Charges
Rockford Police have arrested two men on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop just south of downtown.
According to a press release, officers conducted a traffic stop Sunday night in the 100 block of Morgan Street for a registration violation. A search of the vehicle yielded a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun hidden under the center counsel. Also located were a total of 23.6 gross grams of ‘Crack’ cocaine packaged for individual sale and a total of 13.4 gross grams of Heroin packaged for individual sale.
The driver was identified as 23-year-old Raymond Polk Jr. of Rockford. The front seat passenger was identified as 18-year-old Jeffrey Beasley of Rockford, who officials say is on parole.
Polk is facing multiple counts, including armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver within 1000’ of a church, and possession of heroin with Intent to deliver Within 1000’ of a church. Beasley is charged with obstructing identification and unlawful contact with a street gang member.
