Man Admits to Trying to Buy Drugs When Car Was Stolen
Normally when we bring these types of stories up they've taken place somewhere besides Rockford. Not the case this time.
Wednesday night Rockford Police responded to shots fired around 9:30pm in the area of North Main Street and Boilvin Avenue. They were informed of a black, four-door vehicle whose occupant/occupants shot a victim outside of their residence.
While still on the scene, Police were flagged down by a man claiming his car had just been stolen.
He told police that while in the 1300 block of Boilvin Ave. he was trying to buy drugs when one suspect held him up while the other suspect pulled him out of his red SUV stealing it.
Yep, you read that right. He told the cops he was there to buy drugs when his car was stolen.
We all know these types of crime happens in Rockford and the cops are smart so they probably already figured out why he was there in the first place. But to just openly admit you were there to score is crazy.
I mean wouldn't you at least try to make something up. Not saying one should lie to the police, but if you're there committing a crime, why would you admit that to the officers?
Oh well.
Thankfully no one hurt in both cases and police are now investigating whether the two crimes are connected.
