Illinois Man Flees Police, Returns To Eat Drugs, Gets Arrested
We are all guilty of making a bad decision at one time or another but this one might be near the top of the "dumb" list.
He managed to rack up a long list of charges this week for his poor decision, eight in total.
- Illegal possession of a weapon by a felon
- Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Obstructing justice
- Resisting a peace officer
- Illegal possession of cannabis by a driver
- Operating an uninsured motor vehicle
- Headlight violation.
Police in Jacksonville, Illinois were on their normal routine when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old resident. Little did they know they would be writing up a lot of paperwork. It was about to become an eventful evening.
The police report reveals officers attempted to pull over a vehicle at 9 PM. The vehicle sped off, fleeing from police, and that's when things got interesting. The driver had a little mishap and somehow managed to crash into a fence. There must have been significant damage because he jumped out of the car and took off on foot. While he was running from the police he tossed away a loaded firearm. Not a good plan, but it gets worse.
The man decided to return to the crashed vehicle where police were waiting and giving him directions, like a "get down on the ground" scenario. He didn't listen, of course. Instead, he reached into the back of the vehicle for a "controlled substance" and ate it. Destroying evidence is bad, it's even worse if it's drugs.
He was jailed with no bond but given three free meals and lodging.
