Rockford Native Serving Aboard a Guided-Missile Cruiser

Anyone who's listened to "Riley & Scot" knows the respect we have for our veterans and for our current service members. We try never to miss an opportunity to pay them the honor they deserve.

Today we shine a spotlight on Petty Officer 2nd Class Ryne Becker of Rockford, who's serving aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea:

Philippine Sea is deployed as part of the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group in support of maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.

Late last year on the show we had the honor of speaking with an East High School grad who's serving in the U.S. Navy.  She's part of a hand-picked crew charged with bringing the Navy's newest aircraft carrier into service, the USS Gerald R. Ford.  That would be Petty Officer 3rd Class Jennie Bollinger, pictured here:
