The Congressman is on the record calling for U.S. airstrikes in Iraq targeting the Sunni Islamist rebels in the country. He was clear with us that he believes this is of national security interest for the U.S.:

I think where I'm bothered is to hear people repeat the talking points of "this is a Middle East problem." And this idea of "let them all kill each other because it's just not out business." That is not the heart of America...Secondly, this is of extreme American importance. I've never before imagined having the leader of our country say the establishment of al-Qaeda or an al-Qaeda-related group in Iraq would not be a threat to the United State of America.
