Riley & I welcomed Congressman Adam Kinzinger to the show on Monday, and at the top of the list of issues to cover was the continued crisis on the southern border. Tens of thousands of children have crossed into the U.S. over the past few months, and the flow shows little sign of slowing.

We asked the Congressman to respond to criticism by U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, who told "Face the Nation" that House Republicans were not "accept[ing] their responsibility to govern" because they had not voted on the Senate's immigration reform bill:

Look, I've been a long-time proponent of saying we've got to do immigration reform which starts with serious border security. But that said, this is Dick Durbin who has a leadership position in the U.S. Senate. And the U.S. Senate has decided they're not going to pass anything this year...So fine, he can go out and say, "I'm going to blame House Republicans" but anybody that does their homework, that really looks at how many bills the House has passed versus how many bills the Senate has passed, would definitely see that we're out doing our work. You may not agree with every aspect of work we've done, but why don't you actually pass some of your bills and put it out there too. They haven't done it. So I don't take Dick Durbin seriously anymore.

Here's our full conversation with the Congressman, in which we also talk about last week's jobs report and the situation on the ground in Iraq (Durbin audio begins at the 8:39 mark):
