One of Illinois’ Most Haunted Bridges is in the Rockford Area
It doesn't have to be the Halloween season to find the most haunted of things.
While browsing the interwebs I fell down a rabbit hole of the most haunted tunnels in Illinois.
So while searching for haunted tunnels in Illinois, I ended up running across haunted bridges instead.
Surprisingly, I found a haunted bridge located in the Rockford area, and when I read it, I was like "Oh yeah, I kind of forgot about that place."
Anyway, DangerousRoads.org pieced together a list of the Top 10 Most Haunted Bridges of Illinois.
For us in the Rockford area, the most haunted bridge in town is The Bridges of Blood's Point.
According to legend, the railroad bridge was the scene of a deadly school bus accident, as well as more than one hanging...In one gruesome story, a van full of children coming back from a birthday party spun out of control and plummeted off the side of the bridge. The driver, who was wearing a clown suit, can still sometimes be seen clawing his way back onto the road.
OK, I've been in Rockford for some time now, and I have never heard about the clown bit until today.
For what it's worth, that is frickin horrifying.
Some of the other bridges on the list from Dangerous Roads are in Collinsville, Crete, Monmouth, and New Holland.
As far as The Bridges of Blood's Point is concerned, have you ever seen anything creepy over there? I haven't but would love to hear your stories.
