Get ready for some very bittersweet morning good-byes this New Year's Eve as Rockford says good-bye to one of our favorite news Anchor.

Bittersweet is the absolute best way to qualify Elliot Grandia's upcoming departure from Eyewitness News in the Morning.

Elliot joined Eyewitness News in the Morning as Whitney Martin's co-anchor in late 2019 after previously waking up Rockford on WREX.

I'm writing this as if Elliot is not one of my good friends but he totally is. I also joined the Eyewitness News in the Morning team in late 2019 and whether you're watching at home or in the studio, you feel Elliot's goofy energy and just know your day will be better with him having been in it.

That's where the bittersweet really comes in, as much as I love Elliot being here in the area and know how much viewers will miss him, he's going to his home state of Michigan and will be able to be part of his nieces and nephews lives in the way I know he wants to be.

Elliot announced this morning on Facebook and Instagram that he will be an anchor and reporter in West Michigan at FOX 17 in the new year.

I'm also really excited to see him in action as a reporter because when our community was faced with the Chemtool tragedy I was beyond impressed with Elliot's coverage in the field.

We'll miss you Elliot, make sure to plan a visit back to see us at City Market next summer!
