NUIC Week 9 Preview

Some playoff berths are on the line.And in the final week of the regular season of the NUIC, the media picks come down to the final week to see who gets bragging rights as this year's winner.

Scott Leber of WTVO TV leads at 50-6. Matt Trowbridge of the Rockford Register Star/Freeport Journal-Standard is in second one game back at 49-7. Kyle Kampmier of the NUIC Football Fanatics/Freeport Journal-Standard is third and two games back at 48-8.

Some good games are highlighted in week 9. Dakota needs to win at Stockton to be just playoff eligible. Du/Pec at 6-2 will test themselves as they host powerful 8-0 Lena-Winslow. E/PC needs a win to be playoff eligible at 6-2 Forreston who has lost two straight. Orangeville can clinch a playoff spot with a win at Milledgeville. Aquin tries to win the NUIC South outright hosting West Carroll. East Dubuque is at Galena and Amboy is at A/FC.

In our NUIC picks, Leber has East Dubuque while Trowbridge has Galena. If ED wins Leber wins. If Galena wins then it's a tie between Leber and Trowbridge with the Aquin and West Carroll score as a tie-breaker.

Unanimous picks were Lena-Winslow, Aquin, Forreston, and Orangeville. Stockton over Dakota 9 to 2 and Galena over East Dubuque 6-5. Only one has A/FC beating Amboy.
