Study Names Illinois’ Top Ten Favorite “Anti-Christmas” Movies
While you're on the couch enjoying a Charlie Brown Christmas, singing along with Rudolph and Yukon Cornelius, or weeping over Zuzu's petals in George Bailey's pocket, there are other holiday video lovers who are looking for something a little (or a lot) scary and unsettling.
Those who know about these things call that kind of movie or TV show "Anti-Christmas."
It's not called that because the movies or shows are against the idea of Christmas and the holidays overall, it's called Anti-Christmas because instead of holiday joys, these shows feature plenty of heart-pounding, watch-through-your-fingers horror.
Which camp are you in?
A Website Billed As "The Authority On Web-Hosting" Took An Up-Close And Personal Look At The Most Popular Anti-Christmas Movies That Americans Will Stream This Year
That website, HostingAdvice.com, did a survey of 3,000 people from across the country to determine "what their favorite ‘anti-Christmas’ movie to stream over the festive season is, whether it’s an outright horror flick or even something vaguely festive but not too feel-good."
Before we get to their anti-Christmas list, HostingAdvice.com also looked at what survey respondents thought were the most-overplayed Christmas classic movies:
- 26% said "Home Alone"
- 24% said "A Christmas Story"
- "It's A Wonderful Life" and "Elf" tied at 19%
- 11% said "The Polar Express"
The average household will stream holiday movies and shows for 5 uninterrupted hours over this holiday season.
