Keep in mind that you can find a really good time on St. Patrick's Day nearly anywhere in the Land of Lincoln, but if you're looking for the top spots, you've come to the right place.

A new report from personal-finance website WalletHub compared 200 of the largest US cities to determine the best places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The study looked at 15 different factors, including Irish pubs and restaurants per capita, the cost of food and hotels, safety, accessibility, and even the typical weather around March 17th.

When the numbers were crunched, several Illinois cities made the list, but they are all led by one place that probably won’t surprise anyone.

Like We Said, You Could Go Anywhere For Fun On St. Patrick's Day, But These Are The Top 5 Spots According To WalletHub

According to WalletHub’s rankings, these Illinois cities landed among the best places in America to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day:

  • Chicago: Ranked #6 in the US

  • Naperville: Ranked #28
  • Rockford: Ranked #66

  • Joliet: Ranked #103

  • Aurora: Ranked #148

Chicago’s strong showing isn’t shocking. The city’s green-dyed Chicago River, massive downtown parade, and deep Irish-American heritage help make it one of the country’s most recognizable St. Patrick’s Day destinations.

WalletHub also highlighted Naperville for another interesting reason: it has one of the highest percentages of Irish ancestry among major US cities, which helps boost its St. Patrick’s Day spirit.

What About Where To Go If Illinois Isn't An Option On St. Patty's Day?

While Illinois has several solid entries, the very top spots in the entire nation went elsewhere. According to WalletHub, the three best cities in America for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day are:

  1. Boston, Massachusetts

  2. Reno, Nevada

  3. Savannah, Georgia

Each of those cities scored high thanks to long-standing traditions, plenty of bars and restaurants, and large-scale public celebrations.
