Illinois Tollway Deploying ‘Zero Weather Road Patrols’
The Illinois Tollway has activated their around-the-clock Zero Weather Road Patrols. The extra patrols help aid customers who are stranded in their cars.
The Tollway anticipates operating the Zero Weather Road Patrols through Friday or whenever the temperatures and sustained wind chills rise above zero. During the winter season the Tollway's "H.E.L.P. trucks sponsored by State Farm operate from 5AM to 8PM from Monday through Friday. The extra patrols these week run 24 hours a day, including weekends.
According to a press release, cars or trucks with empty fuel tanks, flat tires, dead batteries, and overheated radiators are all assisted. A minimum of 11 Zero Weather Road Patrols will be deployed, with at least one from each of the Tollway's maintenance garages located throughout the system.
The Tollway reminds customers of their six oases, which serve as warming centers, located along the tollway system.
