ALERT: 4 New Laws in Illinois Go Into Effect This July
Summertime is here, and with that many new laws in Illinois are going into effect. This coming July, there are going to be four new laws that Illinoisans should be aware of.
A recent article published by ABC Chicago just shared some big news. Buckle up, because July 1st isn't that far away. Here are four laws going into effect coming just next month.
New Illinois Laws Effective July 1st
House Bill 3882 - Driver's Licenses for Undocumented Immigrants
Beginning in July, undocumented immigrants living in Illinois will be allowed to have a driver's license. The bill states individuals must have car insurance, provide documents of identification, pass a driving test, and prove at least one year of residency in our state.

House Bill 1122 - Freelance Worker Protection Act
This bill mainly seeks to protect freelance workers against irregular payment structures and enhances protections against toxic workplace behavior. This bill will also create a system for reporting violations against this act to the Illinois Department of Labor.
Senate Bill 1782 - Child Labor Law Now Protects Social Media Influencers
This one will allow children/social media influencers under the age of 16 to receive payment as well and the parents of them required to have records acknowledging their kid's online presence.
Also, another important note in this bill! People now over the age of 18 can take legal action if they, as children, appeared in monetized social content (particularly videos.)

Senate Bill 1993 - School Code Changed for Administering Assessment Tests
This bill will make it a requirement for school boards to hold votes before the contracts for administered assessment testing for students are approved. Meetings for this must be public and taken openly.
The most exciting news of it all coming next month - the minimum wage will also be increasing from $15.80 to $16.20 per hour.
