One of the things I love most about the Halloween season in the Stateline area is the massive amount of spooky, festive events that my family can attend and enjoy together.

Haunted houses, trunk-or-treats, Halloween/Fall festivals, there are so many to choose from in the Rockford area during the month of October, but I was today years old when I learned that the Halloween fun also extends into the water soon.

Grab Your Kayaks And Hop In For Rockton's 'Witches' Paddle'

I used to do a lot of kayaking when I was younger, and sadly that hobby has hit the wayside in the last handful of years since I had kids. If there was ever an event that would make me end my kayaking retirement, it might just be the 'Witches' Paddle' coming up on Halloween in Rockton.

Meet at Macktown Forest Preserve on Halloween at 1:30pm to get in the water by 2pm. We will paddle through Rockton during their Main St. Trick or Treat and get out at Settlers' Park. Let's get dressed up, be witchy and paddle through downtown Rockton together, weather permitting!

Does that not sound fun?!? I've got a witch costume and a kayak, (which happens to be a sit-on-top style), so all I need to do now is figure out how to paddle without soaking my witchiness.
