A friend of mine recently had a pool installed in the backyard of his Rockford-area home. It's a beautiful, in-ground pool with landscaping all around, and it has turned his backyard into a vacation spot. He claims he'd rather hang around his own pool than go to any resort. Now, he's got an absolutely perfect reason for feeling that way.

You see, unlike the couple in the video below, my friend doesn't have to worry about hungry visitors. He prefers his crocodiles to be of the inflatable sort, rather than the too-real version these two folks have an encounter with.

From the Mirror:

Terrifying CCTV footage has captured the moment a couple were attacked by a giant crocodile in their hotel pool. The man and woman were enjoying a late night swim when they creature crawled out of the shadows and launched itself into the water. Seconds later, the croc begins thrashing in the direction of the couple, prompting the man to leap to safety out of the side of the pool. But the woman cannot escape so easily and is forced to fend off the 6ft-long animal as she desperately tries to swim away.

As horrifying as the situation was, I don't believe that the male vacationer endeared himself to the female vacationer by leaping to safety while she deals with the croc. It reminds me of a joke with the punchline being "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you!"

The man was uninjured, but reports say the woman suffered some deep cuts to her shoulder and elbow. She was treated and released from a local hospital, while the croc was relocated to a nature preserve...with no swimming pools.

Anyway, proof positive that Rockford's swimming pools are better:

"So, other than me abandoning you to the crocodile, you had fun on our trip, right? Right?
