I may be a new resident of Pecatonica, Illinois, but it doesn't take long to learn this small village is bursting with hometown pride and community support, and I LOVE that! Here are just a few examples that have made my heart smile recently...

Last month Pecatonica students, businesses, and community members teamed up to decorate the downtown area with sunflowers to show support for Ukraine...

Preschool students at Green Bean Academy made cards that were recently delivered to Ukraine refugees in Poland...

And now the big talk of the town is Pecatonica High School's upcoming performance of Legally Blonde The Musical. Why is this particular high school musical such a big deal? Well, for one, community support and donations for everything from production, to sets and costumes are pouring in, but the REAL big deal is the Pecatonica native that has returned home to direct it.

Broadway Director Kevin Stites to Direct Pecatonica High School's 2022 Spring Musical

Kevin Stites is a proud Pecatonica native, PHS graduate, and a credited Broadway Musical Producer and Director who currently splits his time between Pecatonica and New York City, but has decided to stay put in his hometown for a while to direct PHS's 2022 production of, Legally Blonde The Musical. According to gorockford.com;

Legally Blonde has turned into quite the community collaboration, especially with the Pec Playhouse Theater,” said Stites. “We’re having a ball working with the students and teachers to pull this together.

A few of the Broadway shows Kevin Stites has conducted or directed for include; Sunset Boulevard, Titanic, Les Miserables, Oklahoma!, and several Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectaculars, so to have this kind of talent in the director's chair is a HUGE honor for Pecatonica High School!

Pecatonica High School's production of Legally Blonde The Musical will take place April 22-24, 2022, and tickets are available for purchase now at the high school, BUT I must warn you, they are selling FAST so don't wait until opening day to get them!
