CHICAGO (AP) — The family of a 12-year-old Chicago girl who has cancer says Taylor Swift made the child's heart sing after the pop superstar called her.

Emily Beazley's father said Swift chatted with his daughter for about 10 minutes Wednesday night, talking about music and touring.

Friends, family and supporters of Emily, who has non-Hodgkins lymphoma, have been appealing to Swift for more than a week through social media to call Emily.

A video with nearly 200 children singing and dancing to Swift songs was sent to the singer in an effort to have her contact Emily.

Emily's mother says Swift's manager offered the family tickets and the opportunity to meet the singer at her Detroit concert May 30.

Messages seeking comment from Swift's representative were left by the Chicago Tribune.
