As the situation in Ukraine escalates, 16th District Congressman Adam Kinzinger is joining the chorus of lawmakers calling for sanctions against Russia.

The Congressman told us that as a result of President Obama's weak leadership on the international stage the  United States’ standing in the world has fallen. And as he's mentioned many times before on the show, when America retreats, chaos fills that vacuum.

We asked Congressman Kinzinger what he believed would happen next in this crisis:

This is going to go on for a while, but I think the next 47-to-72 hours will prove to be crucial. I think Putin is probably more likely to move earlier than later just because otherwise you'll have the international will coming together opposing him. But I think he's frankly looking to see what President Obama does. If it's nothing but talk I think it's more likely he goes into East Ukaine; but if the President and Secretary Kerry back that talk up with real action I think you'll see him stay out.
