Cole Hamels Jumps Right Into Cubs-Brewers Rivalry
Cubs new pitcher Cole Hamels is wasting no time getting on the North Side fans' good side.
So far in the month that Hamel's has spent as a Cub he has amassed a 5-0 record while sporting a 0.60 ERA. Not only has he been lights out but he seems to have had a very positive effect on the entire starting staff. The Cubs have arguably had the best starting staff for the month that Hamels has been on the team.
All this was good enough to pick up a little hardware.
That's pretty good. But what's really going to get fans to rally behind him the rest of the year will be because of what he said after Monday night's loss to the Brewers.
That's some pretty disrespectful stuff to say about you divisional opponent. Nothing is more infuriating than one side thinking there's a huge rivalry but the other side barely acknowledge it. It's been this way for Milwaukee for quite awhile. It really is Wrigley North. Rizzo got a curtain call after his home run the other night on the road. Ryan Braun was booed in his own stadium. That's not a good look.
Keep up the solid pitching Cole, that's very appreciated. Just make sure you don't give up on the trash talk, that's what really gets us going.
