It's something you never think about when riding a roller coaster is getting stuck on it. That's exactly what happened to several riders at Great America this weekend.

ABC7 shares that Saturday "safety sensors on one of our coasters (reported to be the Demon) stopped the coaster during the initial ascent. All guests were safely escorted off the ride and continued with their visit."

The ride will "remain closed until a complete safety check can be made, which is expected towards the middle or end of the week."

Thank God for their safety system in place. I would have hated to learn something tragic happened if it weren't for those sensors.

I don't know if that's ever happened to you, but it has to me. I was 13 riding that same ride the Demon with my best friend when the ride stopped after we came out of the corkscrew turns. Thankfully they were able to get us back to the loading and unloading station without having to walk downstairs or the track.

The good part of my experience was that they gave us a voucher to ride again by jumping ahead of the line by walking up the exit and getting on later in the day.
